Windhorst Applauds Judge’s Decision Halting Law that Targets Crisis Pregnancy Care Centers

METROPOLIS – House Republican Floor Leader State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) issued the following statement on Thursday evening following a ruling by a Northern District of Illinois judge granting a preliminary injunction against the implementation of a recently signed law that unfairly targets crisis pregnancy care centers with large financial penalties for alleged distribution of ‘misinformation’.

“The pro-abortion agenda experienced an important setback today as a judge issued a temporary injunction against implementing a newly signed law that would allow for fines of up to $50,000 per “infraction” against crisis pregnancy centers for distributing “disinformation” as determined by the IL Attorney General.

“When questioned about the bill, the sponsor and the representative from the Attorney General’s office refused to rule out that such information as, “Life begins at conception” or, “An unborn baby has a heartbeat after eight weeks gestation,” would be considered disinformation and trigger litigation. Democrats are expanding taxpayer funding for abortions up to and including the moment of birth and at the same time working to unfairly bankrupt centers that provide care to pregnant women. I voted against SB 1909 and stand firmly as a pro-life legislator. I applaud this decision.”
