The interview covers the following topics:

  • Public Act 103-781 – Elimination of state-mandated 1% grocery tax.
  • Public Act 103-752 – Expands function of Office of Inspector General for DHS to include unannounced site visits and reviews of mental health or DD facilities, investigate obstruction of investigations into mental, physical, sexual abuse at DD facilities.
  • Multiple new laws relating to expansion of abortion access for both Illinois citizens, undocumented immigrants, and citizens from other states.
  • Public Act 103-728 – Changes references from offenders to “justice-impacted individuals” – makes changes to Adult Redeploy Illinois Program. Establishes board member requirements and rules for grant funding for Adult Redeploy Illinois.
  • Public Act 103-724 – Changes definition of student-athlete. Allows athletes to earn NIL (Name, Image, and Likeness) compensation directly from universities. Allows for incentives for fans to support NIL – such as better parking or seats if they donate to NIL funds.
  • Public Act 103-772 – Requires the Department of Agriculture to develop and administer a Local Food Infrastructure Grant Program to enhance local food processing, aggregation, and distribution within the State through the award of annual grants.
  • Public Act 103-754 – Requires landlords to disclose flooding information for certain properties.
