METROPOLIS, IL – State Representative Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) is reminding local fire protection districts that the office of the State Fire Marshal is now accepting applications for its Small Equipment Grant Program.
“The 117th district is home to large and small fire protection districts, including multiple volunteer firefighting units,” Windhorst said. “Resources are often hard to come by for some of these smaller units. The State Fire Marshal’s Small Equipment Grant Program offers grants for the purchase of small equipment by a fire department, fire protection district, township fire department, or not-for-profit ambulance services.”
According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal, grants of up to $26,000 are being provided for the purchase of small firefighting and ambulance equipment. All interested departments should send an application to the OSFM electronically or postmarked no later than October 1, 2024.
“I am urging all eligible departments to take advantage of this grant funding opportunity and apply prior to the October 1 deadline,” Windhorst said. “Our local fire and ambulance departments are in the business of saving lives, and I am hopeful they will be awarded with grant funding for equipment they use in those endeavors.”
