Windhorst Reminds Students Summer Reading Club Deadline is Friday, July 10

METROPOLIS, IL – State Representative Patrick Windhorst is reminding parents and students that Friday, July 10, is the deadline to submit completed reading logs for the 2026 “Read All About It! – America 250” Summer Reading Club.

The annual program encourages incoming first through fourth grade students to stay engaged in reading throughout the summer by completing at least eight books. Students who successfully complete the program will receive an official Illinois House of Representatives Certificate of Recognition and two tickets—one for the student and one for a parent or guardian—to a special “Night at the Ballpark” with the Thrillville Thrillbillies on July 21 at Mountain Dew Park in Marion.

“I want to thank all of the students who have spent part of their summer reading and learning,” said Rep. Windhorst. “Reading is one of the best ways to keep young minds active during summer break, and I encourage families who have completed the challenge to be sure to submit their reading forms before Friday’s deadline.”

Completed reading forms must be submitted by Friday, July 10. Parents and guardians may submit forms:

  • Online through the Summer Reading Club webpage;
  • By emailing a completed form to the district office; or
  • By mailing the completed form to Rep. Windhorst’s Harrisburg district office at 2 N. Vine Street, Suite 5A, Harrisburg, IL 62946.

Students may count books read as part of local library summer reading programs toward the challenge, and books longer than 150 pages may count as two books.

Families can submit their completed reading forms and find additional program information at Rep. Windhorst’s Summer Reading Club webpage.
