SPRINGFIELD – State Rep. Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) is reporting the unanimous passage of SB 2984 through the Illinois House, legislation he says will extend new resources to young entrepreneurs.
Senate Bill 2984 makes changes to Public Act 102-0272 and adds the language ‘youth entrepreneurs’ to the list of groups to be assisted at Entrepreneurship Assistance Centers though a program with The Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity.
“I am proud to have gained unanimous support from my House colleagues on legislation that makes more clear our commitment to supporting youth entrepreneurs,” Windhorst said. “Under this legislation, young entrepreneurs aged 16-29 seeking support to start a business in Illinois can find assistance through an Entrepreneurship Assistance Center at DCEO. These centers will provide vital tools and guidance to young business owners in both the pre and post-startup phase of their venture and assist them with knowledge and access to capital and resources. I am proud to have partnered with Senator Dale Fowler, who guided this legislation through the Illinois Senate earlier this year.”
Having passed the Senate and the House, SB 2984 will now head to the governor’s desk for his consideration.
