METROPOLIS – State Rep. Patrick Windhorst (R-Metropolis) is kicking off his annual Summer Reading Program for students who will be in 1st through 4th grade for the 2025-2026 school year. This year’s summer reading club theme is “Get in the Game”. 117th district students who read 8 or more books this summer and complete required registration forms will be offered a free ticket for themselves and a parent/guardian to a Thrillville Thrillbillies baseball game for a special summer readers’ “Night at the Ballpark” celebration event.
“My summer reading club is a great chance for students to keep reading throughout their summer break, keep their reading skills sharp, and earn a ticket to watch a baseball game with me and their fellow summer readers,” Windhorst said. “I’m thrilled to be joining my colleague, State Rep. Paul Jacobs, to host summer readers and a parent at Mountain Dew Stadium for a Thrillville Thrillbillies game as a reward for the students’ hard work.”
Incoming 1st through 4th grade students reading at least EIGHT books this summer will receive an official Illinois House of Representatives Certificate of Recognition and two tickets (one for the reader, one for a parent/guardian) to a Thrillville Thrillbillies baseball game at Mountain Dew Park in Marion in July 2025 for a special “Night at the Ballpark” celebrating summer readers! Details will be forwarded to summer readers and their parents or guardians upon receipt of completed reading forms.
Completed forms should be sent to State Representative Patrick Windhorst – 2 N. Vine Street, Suite 5A, Harrisburg, IL, 62946 or scanned and emailed to [email protected]. An online form is also available for students to fill out at repwindhorst.com/rep-windhorsts-summer-reading-club. The deadline for form submissions is Thursday, July 3, 2025.
